If you’d like to know what it takes to be a brilliant remote worker whilst enjoying more freedom & flexibility in your life and career, you’re in luck. Season 4 is all about thriving in this new remote work reality. The way we work has been catapulted 5-10 years into the future and now working remotely is the norm for many office workers that would never have dreamed they have what it takes to work remotely.
Since the onset of the pandemic in the early part of 2020, hundreds of thousands of you are now working from home; and hundreds of companies are fast adapting to the new remote work reality putting not only systems and processes in place so their employees can work as efficiently and productively as possible, but also adapting their culture and philosophy that enhances connection, communication & creativity so their teams can thrive on all levels while they do their best work.
You, the people, are loving it. Especially us Brits. Only a third of office workers returned to the office when leadership urged them to do so, and even less, 13%, feel they should return to the office if they can just as well do their job from home. WE LOVE it. Brits have been liberated from the clutches of the commute and there’s no going back.
But even so, there come challenges as we get used to the new remote work reality; how to really live and work at home when lockdowns loom; how we draw the line between office hours and the rest of our life; how we maintain our productivity & efficiency when the fridge is so close by; how we build relationships with our colleagues without the water cooler; how we socialise with our team mates without trips to the pub & annual in -person retreats; and how we create & sustain mental health and wellness. Because a company’s ability to foster connection, collaboration, creativity and innovation is inextricably linked with each member of their team thriving in all of these areas.
So, in Season 4 we are going to talk about what it takes to be a brilliant remote worker. We talk to founders and leaders building remote teams; we talk to brilliant remote workers happy to share tips about how they stay motivated, happy, fit, and healthy, and how they use this to be the best at what they do whilst building a successful career.
I’m your host, Stephanie Holland, and I’ve been working remotely since 2004, both as full-time employee and independent contractor. I’ve learned so much and I’m so excited to extract all these insights from the leaders & workers shaping the remote work reality. And being brilliant remote workers themselves.
